Sasha Solonin, Meredith Xepoleas and Kentaro Mizushima led the Weil Academy team to 3 singles Championships at the 2009 California Bowl completed in late December. This is the highest total any Weil Team has ever won at the prestigious and highly competitive California Bowl. Sasha won the Boys 14s Title, Meredith the Girls 12s Title and Kentaro the Boys 12s Title! Masa Ono of Japan was also a Finalist and Kei Ezaka was a semifinalist in the Boys 14s Division.

Sasha Solonin, seeded #1 in Boys 14s, defeated Weil team mate Masa Ono in the Boys 14s final 6-1, 6-3, after Masa had defeated Weil Team mate Kei Ezaka in the semis meaning Weil had 3 of the 4 semifinalists.

Meredith Xepoleas had a break out tournament to win her first National Title defeating #1 seed Dominque Shaefer in the semifinals 3-6, 6-0, 6-0, and #9 seed Tracy Van in the finals 6-3, 6-0 to take home the Girls 12s Championship! Meredith won 3 sets 6-0 in her last 2 matches – great tournament from Mer!

Kentaro Mizushima , unseeded in the tournament, defeated the #8, #9 and #1 seeds to reach the final without losing a set along the way. Kentaro then defeated Fintan Collins 6-0, 6-0 in the finals to take the Championship for his first National Title!

Other strong results were turned in by Lynda Xepoleas who reached the Quarterfinals of the Girls 18s Division and Tess Bernard – Feigenbaum who reached the Quarterfinals of the Girls 16s Division.
