Fun in the Sun
Ojai's location in Southern California places it in the heart of one of the nation's toughest USTA sections. There are over 165 junior tournaments held each year in the Southern California section, drawing over 1,500 juniors to its sectional tournament -- and Ojai is within two hours of all these competitive sectional tournaments.
Located 75 miles northwest of Los Angeles and 35 miles southeast of Santa Barbara, Ojai (pronounced Oh-hi) has a long and distinguished tennis tradition. It is host of the PAC 10 championships (which have produced 19 of the past 22 NCAA team champions) and the renowned Ojai Tournament, the oldest amateur tennis tournament in the United States. Played every spring since 1895, today it attracts the country's top-ranked collegiate players.
Commonly referred to as "Shangri-La," Ojai is nestled below the Los Padres National Forest, and is known for its magnificent mountain landscapes, ideal climate and peaceful, friendly lifestyle. It possesses a surprising blend of cosmopolitan style and small town charm. A community rich in culture, Ojai is home to a thriving arts and theatre community, boasting many prominent art galleries, year-round live theatre, musical concerts -- including the internationally renowned Ojai Music Festival and numerous other special cultural events and festivals.
