Mohamed (Mo) El Bouzkouri, Associate Tennis Director

Mohamed Elbouzkouri Mohamed (Mo) El Bouzkouri is originally from Morocco, where he ranked among the top five juniors in his country. Mo joined the academy in the summer of 2004 where he became part of the academy's coaching and management team. Mo oversees and manages all training programs at the academy and works with Weil's top players.

Mohamed (Mo) El Bouzkouri is the Director of the College Placement Program for the academy. This program adapts unprecedented and has a unique approach to College Placement, which makes it very effective at getting players placed into top College Tennis Programs all over the United States, while maximizing their scholarship potentials. Mo has very close ties with an extensive amount of College Coaches which includes Division I, II, III and NAIA. Mo’s college placement expertise combined with his coaching experience provides proven success in getting the students placed with scholarships in college programs to fit each player's individual ambitions both athletically and academically. In 2006/2007 school year, Mo was responsible for placing and negotiating substantial scholarships for our students to the best academic and athletic universities in the country. Schools such as UCLA, UC Berkley, Georgia Tech, Stanford and many more! (See the full list here!). This college placement class is not only limited to our full time students, but rather for players all around the world who have signed up for the College Placement Program.

Mo moved to The United States in 1996 to attend the Palmer Tennis Academy where he earned a scholarship and trained with the best juniors in the world, competing in the highest level of various National and International tournaments. He then went on to play Division I Tennis on full scholarship at Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina from 1999 to 2003, where he earned a Bachelors degree in Management and International Marketing. He also served as an Assistant Head Coach at the Palmer Tennis Academy in his senior year, as well as, assisting the Coastal Carolina Men's Tennis Team in 2003-2004. Mo has worked and developed players such as Kallim Stewart (# 1 US Boy's 18 - 2006), Pedro Zerbini (UC Berkeley) and Ksenia Milevskaya (# 2, Girl's ITF) etc... Mo is fluent in French, Arabic, Spanish and English, enabling him to communicate with our International students and their parents.

Takeshi Ozaki, Head Coach

Takeshi OsakiCoach Ozaki, originally from Tokyo, Japan, was ranked number three in his section while a college student in Japan. He coached in Tokyo for six years and was director of Lavoy Pacific College (Sports College) from 1990-1993. He also developed the BETA (Briscoe Eisendrath Tennis Academy) in Washington where he served as director for eight years. Before joining the Weil Tennis Academy, he directed the Pacific Tennis Academy.

In addition to coaching, Ozaki travels to Japan regularly to recruit students for a new Asian Training Program at the Weil Tennis Academy. So far, the Weil Tennis Academy has enrolled 12 students from Japan.

Ognyan Katsarov, Head Coach

Ognyan KatsarovOgnyan (Ogi) Katsarov is from Bulgaria, He worked for the Bulgarian Fed Cup Team as Assistant Coach from 1999-2003 and Head Coach in 1995, 1996 and 2004. Ogi has also coached the likes of Magdalena Maleeva, along with three players in the top 150-250 in the WTA, ten Bulgarian National champions and a 3rd place in the Orange Bowl.

Ogi graduated from The Higher Institute of Physical Education specializing in Tennis and Pedagogic Profile. As a tennis player, he participated in the National Team of Bulgaria, ranked 5th place on in the Men's National Team and placed 1st in Tier I Doubles in national tournaments.

Ogi's coaching career began in 1980 in his home town of Plovdiv where he also lectured from 1983-1989. He coached for the Locomotiv-Stad Tennis Club and in 1991 became a coach for Bulgaria's National Women's Team. Ogi is married to Vesalina Katsarova. Their son, Bozhidar Katsarov was top 20 in ETA in 14s.

Petar Racic, Head Coach

Petar is originally from Novi Sad, Serbia and Montenegro where he worked as a tennis coach for 10 years. Petar worked with junior and college level players in a Tennis Club that produced three top 100 WTA players, the most famous being Monica Seles. Petar started playing tennis at the age of 8 and as a player competed in all age division groups in former Yugoslavia being ranked top 20 in the nation. In 1993 Petar became certified by Yugoslav Tennis Association and he has also been a PTR Professional since 2004. Last year Petar moved to Moorpark, CA where he coached Michelle Dokic, a top ranked Southern CA player who also joined the Weil Academy this summer.

Allen Fox, Ph.D.

Allen Fox Allen Fox, Ph.D. earned a B.A. degree in physics and a Ph. D. in psychology from UCLA where he played college tennis and won he NCAA Singles and Doubles Titles. Dr. Fox wrote the best sellers, If I'm the Better Player, Why Can't I Win?, Think to Win, and most recently The Winner's Mind.

With the same competitive zeal that propelled him to the number four ranking in the United States, to the quarterfinals at Wimbledon and a 3 time member of the US Davis Cup Team, he became an investment banker and eventually ran his own investment company. Dr. Fox went on to own and operate several successful small businesses while coaching the highly-ranked tennis team at Pepperdine University, mentoring, among others, super-achiever and motivator Brad Gilbert, the renowned coach of Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick. Dr Fox's Pepperdine teams were ranked in the Top 5 for 10 consecutive years and reached 2 NCAA Team Finals.

He currently consults and works privately with professional athletes on the mental issues of competition and travels worldwide to lecture on competition psychology. He lives in San Luis Obispo, California, with his wife, Nancy and two sons, Evan and Charlie.

 


Patrick Muller, Fitness Director

Patrick Muller Patrick is originally from Strasbourg, France. He has been working at the Weil Tennis Academy since the summer of 2006. Patrick has been studying Sports Science for 5 years and graduated with a Master's Degree in Strength and Conditioning from the University of Strasbourg, France. His main focus of study was sports performance. He specialized in all the fitness components that an athlete needs: strength, speed, endurance, agility and flexibility. Patrick has played tennis since he was very young and he has coached tennis for the last several years. Patrick completed several internships in the strength and conditioning field before coming to Weil. He has worked with professional soccer and rugby teams in France and has also worked with young basketball and badminton players. Patrick started his tennis career with an internship in the French Tennis Federation with the top 6 14/16 year old players. He has also worked as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Evert Tennis Academy in Florida.

Jim Westfall, Head Group Coach

Jim grew up in Davis, California. He was ranked in the Top 30 in Northern California as a junior player and received a tennis scholarship to Utah State University. After playing #1 singles his sophomore year, he transferred to Michigan State University where he played two seasons for the Spartans and graduated with a B.A. in Political Science.

In 2006, Jim began working as an Assistant Tennis Professional at the Natomas Racquet Club in Sacramento. While on staff, he assisted with the development of the junior program as well as taught private and group lessons.

In the year 2000 Jim was ranked #1 in 5.5 singles in Northern California and was named the NTRP Player of the Year.

Hide Kutami, Fitness Assistant

Hide Kutami

Hide Kutami, originally from Kanagawa Japan, began playing tennis at the age of 15. Hide was a member of his high school’s National Championship team in 2000 and moved to the United States in 2002. Hide played tennis for 2 years for Grossmont College in San Diego. Grossmont placed 2nd in 2003 and 4th in 2004 in the Community College Tennis Division for CA. Hide was ranked 27 in the singles and 10 for doubles.

Hide transferred to Cal State Northridge in 2006 and graduated in 2009 majoring in Kinesiology and Athletic Training. Hide has experience working with a broad spectrum of athletes in regards to injury prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation. Hide recently achieved his certification as an athletic trainer through the National Athletic Trainer's Association Board of Certification, Inc.

Zuzana Zemenova, Coach

Zuzana ZemenovaZuzana Zemenova, originally from Slovakia, was a top 100 junior player. Zuzana was awarded a full scholarship at Baylor University in Texas, a top 5 Division 1 program and graduated from Baylor in May 2008. Zuzana was the first Baylor women's player to win the NCAA Singles Championship in 2005 and also Baylor's first Honda Award winner. With the NCAA championship win, Zuzana became women's tennis first unseeded NCAA champion ever, the fifth to play in the final and the sixth freshman to win the NCAA singles title.

Zuzana also reached the NCAA Singles Final a second time in 2008, and the singles semifinal in 2007. Zuzana was a 4 time All American at Baylor. Zuzana also competed on the highest national and international levels. She reached WTA rankings of 413 in singles and 308 in doubles. Zuzana has always dreamed of coaching top young players and begins her coaching career at Weil. Zuzana has 
already traveled with top Weil player Anna Orlik to the US Open as her travel coach. We are excited to have Zuzana on our team at Weil.

Petr Krakora, Coach
Petr KrakoraPetr Krakora, born in Brno, Czech Republic, has played tennis for seventeen years. Petr competed on a national level in Czech and reached the national championships in categories under fourteen, sixteen, and eighteen years. Following high-school, Petr spent next four years studying and playing Division I college tennis in the United States at Norfolk State University, Virginia.

Petr’s coaching career started with getting certified by the Czech Tennis Association in 2002. Thereafter, he trained pre-college juniors in a tennis club in Brno.

In the future, Petr plans on pursuing a graduate degree in sport and fitness management, and later get a job in the sport industry.

Ivan Chamdani, Coach
Ivan ChamdaniIvan Chamdani is originally from Jakarta, Indonesia where he was a top fifteen national U18 player in Indonesia. He was coached and mentored by Dedy Tedjamukti, the coach of many top junior players including Angelique Widjaja, top 100 WTA and former #1 ITF. Before his college tennis career, he spent half a year at Bruguera Top Team Tennis Academy in Barcelona-Spain where he competed in various top-level Spanish junior tournaments. He earned a Full Scholarship to the University at Buffalo and played Division I men's tennis. He graduated in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in International Trade. Ivan will apply his top-junior coaching experience to all his players.

Nathan LeGrand, Player Development Consultant
Nathan LeGrandNathan, from Los Angeles, is excited to be heading up the “Volley Attacking System” here at the Weil Academy. This is a new training system being developed by Nathan and the Weil Academy to develop each player’s ability to reach the net and enhance their precision of play, once there.

Nathan has been coaching for over 35 years. He has coached and helped develop countless players into, National Junior, ITF, College, and Professional Tennis. Nathan Played college tennis at the University of South Carolina before moving west to coach in Southern California. Nathan has headed up many successful training programs and camps in Southern California over the last 20 years.
In 2000, Nathan created OCTMS – on court training and management systems. OCTMS ran both the Balboa Tennis Center and Westwood Tennis Center in Los Angeles. Under his personal vision, Westwood Tennis Center became one of the most respected tennis facilities for the City of Los Angeles.
In 1991, Nathan founded the Gate Academy at Mountain Gate Country Club in LA. As director of the program for 9 years the Gate Academy grew into the strongest player development program in Los Angeles. In 1979, Nathan created, developed, and directed, the first Tournament Training Camp for U.S. Sports (parent company for Adidas Tennis Camps – now Nike Tennis Camps. He worked as Tournament Training Director at UC Irvine until 1989. In 1971, Nathan began his career with Nick Bollettieri working for All American Sports based in New York City. While with AAS, Nathan was director of tennis at such facilities as, Amelia Island Tennis Resort, Topnotch Resort, and Montego Bay Racket Club.
