Weil's Ksenia Milevskaya reaches #3 ITF ranking in 2006! Goal for 2007 is #1!
Ksenia Milevskaya, the 16 yr old phenom from Minsk, Belarus, has been training at Weil for over a year and her results are in and they are phenomenal! When Milevskaya arrived at Weil ranked #63 ITF, we all knew she could be a top 10 player-we just didn't know she could achieve it so quickly! Currently, Milevskaya is ranked #3 in the world, has beaten the #1 ranked junior twice this year and is hungry to take over the #1 spot in 2007.
Ksenia has had the best results in 2006 of any junior in the world by winning 5 Grade 1 ITF tournaments in California, Belgium, Germany, Canada and Kentucky from April to September, as well as making another Grade 1 Final in England in July. Ksenia finished her summer off by winning the Girls 16s Fed Cup Final in Barcelona Spain leading her Belarus team by defeating #1 Seed Russia and by personally beating #1 ITF Ranked Anastasia Pavlyuchenkov.
Ksenia started training at Weil in 2005 and began 2006 ranked #63 ITF. Focusing on developing a better hard court offensive style, Ksenia won several So Cal Jr events as she tuned up for the ITF season. Milevskaya then won her first Grade 1 Tournament in California in early April to start her dream season. Ksenia didn't lose a set as she defeated American Chelsea Gullickson 6-1, 6-0 in the final.
Ksenia then won her first Professional Tournament at the 2006 Ojai Tournament Women's Open defeating ex USC player Maureen Diaz 6-3, 6-1 in the final to win her first prize money. Previous winners of the Ojai tournament included Lindsay Davenport, Tracy Austin and Billy Jean King.
In Europe, Ksenia won her second Grade 1 ITF in Belgium, reached the rd of 16 at the Jr French Open, losing he first battle with Pavlyuchenkov, then won again a Grade 1 in Germany before retiring in the final of the Grade 1 in Roe Hampton, England due to stomach flu. Milevskaya's Jr Wimbledon was short lived as she was upset in the first round, but Ksenia battled back and won the Grade 1 in Canada in August and the Grade 1 in Kentucky in September.
Milevskaya will begin her professional career this fall by competing in a Women's $50K challenger before heading to Florida to compete in the Grade 1 Eddie Herr and the prestigious Orange Bowl to finish 2006.
In 2007, Ksenia will play all 4 Jr Grand Slams as well as smaller professional tournaments as she embarks on her professional career. Ksenia's goal is to be a top 150 WTA player by the end of 2007 and to qualify for all the Grand Slam events.
