Dr. Allen Fox takes post of Mental Fitness Director of the Weil Tennis Academy

Academy director Mark Weil introduced Dr. Allen Fox to the academy players and parents this fall as Dr. Fox takes over as Mental Fitness Director at Weil for 2006-07.

Dr. Fox will be making monthly visits to the academy and meeting with every player individually to discuss issues of competitive tennis and how to improve their focus, results and overall enjoyment of the journey to becoming a great tennis player.

"I have always admired Dr. Fox and his teachings and I am thrilled to have him onboard at Weil to help our players reach their highest levels. Allen is a great teacher, coach, father and friend. I am very excited to watch the impact Allen has on our players this year-it will be profound, I assure you," said Mark Weil.

Dr. Fox has also started working this year with promising So Cal juniors Sam Querry and Michael McClune in association with the USTA High Performance Program, as well as other prominent professional tennis & baseball players.

Dr. Fox earned his B.A. in Physics and a Doctorate in Psychology from UCLA, where he played college tennis and won the NCAA Singles and Doubles Titles. He later went on to win the Canadian Nationals, the U.S. National Hard Courts, reached the Quarterfinals at Wimbledon and was a 3 time member of the United States Davis Cup Team, having been ranked as high as #4 in the United States.

Allen went on to coach college tennis at the highest level-Division 1 Men's Tennis at Pepperdine University. Dr. Fox's Pepperdine Teams were ranked in the Top 5 in the nation for 10 straight years and he reached two NCAA Finals. Among the team members Fox coached were Brad Gilbert (coach of Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick) and Martin Laurendeau, Captain of the Canadian Davis Cup Team.

Dr. Fox is also a former editor of Tennis Magazine and author of two classic tennis books, If I'm the Better Player, Why Can't I Win?, and Think to Win.

Allen lives in San Luis Obispo with his wife Nancy and his two sons, Evan and Charlie.
