Gail Brodsky ranked #1 in the US in Girls 14s— Wins first Grand Slam Match at Jr. US Open!
Weil’s Gail Brodsky is having one of those dream years—it began in January when she captured one of the most prestigious Girls 14s International Titles at the 2005 Teen Tennis Tournament in England and continued through the summer into September as she was awarded a wildcard into the Jr. US Open Main Draw and won her first match in front of a hometown crowd at the USTA National Tennis Center.
In between January and September, Brodsky won titles in the Girls 16s Ojai Tournament in April and the Girls 18s California National Open in May (defeating 4 players in the Top 25 Girls 18s in the US), reached the Grade 3 semis and quarters in singles and the doubles final of Grade 2 ITF’s in Morocco in June, reached the semifinals of the Girls 18s National Clay Courts in July and played the #1 position for the US in the World Youth Cup Games in the Czech Republic in August winning 4 out of 5 of her singles matches against the world’s top 14 year olds!
Brodsky will finish 2005 ranked #1 in the US Girls 14s, Top 5 US in Girls 16s and Top 20 US in Girls 18s! What a year!
Gail will travel to Florida in December for 2 big ITF’s, then travel to Australia to represent the US at the Jr. Australian Open in January. In 2006 using Weil Academy as her training base, Brodsky plans to sprinkle in some professional tournaments in California to her ITF Grand Slam and US National Schedule.
Gail’s goal is to play the Main Draw of all the Jr. Grand Slam tournaments, to be ranked top 50 ITF and earn her way into the Main Draw of the 2006 US Open in September.
“Her results have been improving since arriving at the Academy three years ago. She won Eddie Herr Girls 12s Title after training at the Academy in her 1st year,” says Coach and Father Edward Brodsky.
