Monica Turewicz a Finalist at Girls 16s Hard Courts - rises to Top 10 in the US in first year!

Weil's Monica Turewicz stunned the junior tennis world this August by reaching the Singles finals at the 2008 US Girls 16s Hard Court Championships in San Diego. Monica had an improbable run where she did not drop a set until the finals. In the Quarterfinals, Monica took revenge on #14 Mia Lancaster of Oklahoma who had beaten Monica at the Clay Courts a few weeks earlier - Monica took out Mia 6-4,6-3. Then in the Semifinals Monica overwhelmed #7 seed Katie Fuller of Georgia 6-0, 6-1. In the finals, Monica couldn't get on track and Lauren Davis of Ohio defeated Monica 6-2, 6-1. But Monica took home the Silver Ball for the Finalist and served notice that she will be a force in the US Junior ranks for a few years to come.

Monica also had a great US Clay Courts Tournament losing in the Round of 16 in Singles but rebounding to take 6th place and reach the Consolation Singles Final! And this April Monica won her first Ojai Singles Title by taking down #2 Nikki Sanders in the final 6-2, 6-1.
