College Placement 2009 Update

Weil's 2009 Senior Class scores early College Placements at Prestigious American Universities like Cornell, UC Berkeley, Johns Hopkins, Harvey Mudd, USF and More!

Cornell, UC Berkeley, Johns Hopkins, UC Davis, Rollins, Univ. of San Francisco, Harvey Mudd, Kenyon College, are just some of the colleges where our seniors will be headed next fall as the 2009 Senior Class begins its quest to be the best placed class in Weil's history!

Judd Berg of South Africa looks to be at Cornell next fall as Head Men's Coach David Geatz has tagged Judd as his #1 Recruit for 2009. Judd is very excited about entering Cornell in the fall and will play professional events and train hard in 2009 to prepare to contribute to Coach Geatz's team from the first day. Judd also had big interest from Dartmouth, Princeton, Yale, and Penn for 2009.

Charles Quay of Washington will also enter Cornell University and Head Men's Coach David Geatz's program as one of his top 3 recruits. Charles visited Colgate, Columbia, Darmouth, Yale and Cornell and chose Cornell as his top choice.

Moustafa Ismail of Egypt will enter UC Berkeley in the fall and join Head Men's Coach Peter Wright's squad that already includes Weil Alumni Kallim Stewart, Pedro Zerbini and Bozhidar Katsarov. Moustafa was looking at several UC schools but after visiting Berkeley he was sold on its great academics and great people.

Mohamed El Bouzkouri "We do all we can to place each student at their #1 choice of school. Other college placement services and academies have an 'any placement will do' attitude. Our primary objective at the Weil College Placement Program is to exceed the player's expectation for their placement in every level whether it is academic, athletic or scholarship. And we have consistently proven that in the past few years with every single player," said College Placement Director Mohamed El Bouzkouri.

Tres Preissman

Tres Preissman of Los Angeles who is in his third year at Weil is looking closely at several prestigious schools: Kenyon College, Oberlin, George Washington & American University. Any one of these schools will be a great fit for Tres as he pursues a liberal arts education.

Ben Paras  of Tuscon who is in his second year at Weil had offers from many top schools but has chosen Harvey Mudd, on of the premier Math, Science and Engineering programs in the US, and to play for Head Men's Coach Paul Settles. Ben will thrive in the more personal environment at HM.

Noah Simonson of Ojai has been tagged as Coach Willenborgs #1 Recruit at Johns Hopkins and is super excited about attending next year. Noah will look to apply later on to the BME program at Hopkins which ranks #1 in the world.

Yurie Hashiguichi of Japan who is in her third year at Weil has just been offered and accepted a full scholarship to the University of San Francisco and is elated at her opportunity! Yurie had many great schools to choose from but wanted to stay on the West Coast and study in a private university with a competitive team. Yurie had all her wishes come true with USF!

Seniors Julian Yasin, Trevor Sipos, Teck Lim, Frank Chen, Yu Kanehira, Yusuke Kusuda, Erik Rosner, Tara Yekrang, Sean Sullivan and Mason Wojciechowski are all finishing up their visits to universities across teh US and will choose their schools very soon. In all, Weil's College Placement Service will place over 25 high school seniors into prestigious universities and college tennis programs in the next few months. College Placement Director Mohammed El Bouzkouri and Academy Director Mark Weil see this class as the most ambitious yet to come through Weil.

Mark Weil "This group is the most academically competitive of any group we have ever had and that is evidenced by the caliber of universities that are pursuing them. These kids have all put the time into their academics and tennis over the past 8 years to achieve these college opportunities - this is a great bunch of kids and they deserve everything they get," said Academy Director Mark Weil.
